Our Approach

Our classical approach to learning and teaching is one of the key reasons for families choosing to enrol their children in our College.

A St Thomas Aquinas College education is one based on the four Cardinal virtues of Justice, Prudence, Fortitude, Temperance and the three Theological Virtues of Faith, Hope and Charity.

The College sees the development of its students as a journey of endless possibilities, where students are energised to seek meaning and explore questions about the world around them through the eyes of a young traditional Catholic, therefore our staff are vigilant in ensuring they are discerning and considered in their pedagogical choices.

In order to establish a learning environment that facilitates the achievement of the College Mission and Vision, classes within the Kolbe Learning Centre (F-6) and Aquinas Learning Centre (11-12) are co-educational, with students learning in gender specific classes through both the MacKillop Learning Centre (Girls 7-10) and Bosco Learning Centre (Boys 7-10).

Each learning centre provides a safe, welcoming and respectful experience where students are valued, heard, and celebrated in a way that enhances their sense of self, their agency and their resilience in the face of difficulty, challenge or adversity.

This helps create that all important sense of belonging that is fundamental to the holistic development of each child and critical to achieving personal success.
