The College strongly believes when a student displays a positive sense of wellbeing, this creates the platform from which a positive learning trajectory is launched. Our holistic approach to education aims to foster a sense of belonging and connectedness within the College community, promote fortitude and ensure individualised support is available for each student.
We recognise that it takes a village to raise a child therefore all staff work with students to build relationships based on trust and respect and the provision of a safe environment to explore their individual goals and develop proactive strategies to achieve them.
Weaved throughout the life of the College, our Virtues Program ensures that wellbeing is not taught in isolation but delivered through an integrated model of pastoral care and activities directed to enhancing their wellbeing and developing personal and social capabilities.
Our staff also work to ensure that new students experience a smooth transition into our College and benefit from the same level of high-quality professional and personalised support enjoyed by all our current students.
The B R I E model
B R I E is a whole College wellbeing program that enables students to develop Balance, Resilience, Insight and Empathy for a safe, healthy and positive approach to life. The program is sequenced to ensure that it is appropriate for students’ age and stage of development.
Students develop an understanding of the importance of:
B – BALANCE within their lives and learn strategies that enable them to self regulate within the different environments they experience.
R – RESILIENCE as they encounter adversity in their faith, academic, social and emotional development.
I – INSIGHT in order to reason and act rightly in all situations.
E – EMPATHY as they express genuine concern for the wellbeing of others.
Our College Virtues program is facilitated across the College for all students as a way of forming them to become the true and perfect Catholic.
Centred around the Cardinal, Theological Virtues and Seven Gifts of the Holy Ghost, the program is structured so that the whole College focuses on the same virtue or gift at the same time. The program covers 31 virtues and the seven gifts over the course of the academic year.
