I hope this communication finds you well.
- Virtue of the Week
- Thought from Archbishop Lefebvre
- Student Achievement
- Updated College Enrolment Agreement
This week we explore the Virtue of Industriousness. Industriousness is diligence, especially in work that leads to natural and supernatural maturity
Congratulations to the 17 Primary and 20 Secondary students who represented the College at West Gippsland Division Cross Country last week. All students ran well and represented the College very well.
We had 6 students finish in the top 10 for their age group to qualify for Gippsland REGION Cross Country at Drouin Golf Club on Thursday 6 June.
- Samuel Soefting = 4th
- Oliver Verleg = 7th
- Chrystella Zaccari = 6th
- Sebastian Upston = 10th
- Genevieve McLean = 8th
- Santino Tommasi = 10th
These six runners will be joined by two of our VCE students:
- Alexander Stevenage in Yr 11
- Aaron Braaksma in Yr 12
In addition to our runners, we also congratulate those students who competed in the Alliance Francaise Poetry competition.
You may be aware that the College is currently moving through the process of renewing its registration as an educational institution with the Victorian Qualifications and Regulations Authority.
Through this process the Executive have been required to review a vast number of College policies, procedures and practices within 6 key operational areas. One area in particular is enrollment.
Within this section, the College is required to have an:
- Enrolment agreement with parents or guardians that complies with all State and Commonwealth laws, including the Australian Consumer Law. The agreement must be publicly available and cover, at a minimum:
– Codes of conduct for students, parents and guardians
– Fees Information
– Educational services provided
– The grounds on which the agreement may be terminated.
We must also ensure that parents and guardians are able to access enrolment forms, the parent payment policy and a schedule of charges for the school.
In going through this process, we have noticed that there were some gaps in our current agreement and that over time some students (even within families) are on varying agreements.
This has seen the Executive revise its enrolment agreement to not only include all relevant information but also update sections in order to comply with current legislation.
The Executive values the input of parents in shaping the operational direction of the College. Therefore, I provided the form to a number of parents for their feedback. I wish to thank these parents for their valuable insight and recommended alterations.
In the coming days, the oldest child in each family will bring home an envelope that will contain a new enrolment agreement for each child. I ask that these are read through, signed and returned to the College. If you have any questions or concerns please don’t hesitate to contact me via the College administration office.
We are starting to see an increase in student and staff absences due to illness as we enter these colder months. Please remember, symptoms of influenza (flu) can hit very quickly and may last several weeks. It is important that we are discussing with our students safe hygiene practices. Please encourage students to:
- Wash and sanitise their hands regularly
- Avoid touching their eyes, nose and mouth with unwashed hands
- Cover their nose and mouth when they cough or sneeze
Please ensure that where possible students stay home if they are unwell and consult their GP
God Bless,
Mr Kieran O’Dwyer
Principal
